One of the the greatest little businesses that I have discovered since having this blog is the amazing Pop Up Succulent Shop.

Owned and operated by the incredibly wonderful Renelle, Pop Up Succulent Shop has got me obsessed with all things succulent!!

Located in Bathurst Pop Up Succulent Shop offers unique arrangements, wreaths, Kokedamas and terrariums. She can help you decorate your wedding or party and creates the most magnificent gifts.

My most favourite thing about Pop Up Succulent Shop are the workshops. These are great opportunities to learn some new skills while creating your very own masterpiece.

I will forever remember my first workshop with Renelle, my eyes were open to so much succulent knowledge in a friendly, fun environment. I took my mum and we both had the best afternoon.

| CHRISTMAS PRIZEAPOLOOZA 2019 | Do Christmas with Jess and her dots

This is a fantastic local business that you really need to know about! Jess Does Dots is owned and operated by the incredibly talented Jess Sandford (Channon) and is located in Orange.

Jess Does Dots creates original art (framed and on canvas), hand painted earrings, hand painted Christmas decorations and canvas print bags.

The thing that sets Jess apart is that her masterpieces are handcreated with love and talent and some of her paintings can take weeks to finish! The time she spends on these creations are not reflected in her price but you can tell when you recieve one of her items just how much time and love has gone into it.

This business began after one of Jess’ friends make the suggestion for Jess to have an outlet. Jess suffered severe postnatal depression and anxiety and her friend (who was a nurse) suggested it could help her cope. Jess had obtained a top mark in the NSW HSC Art body of work and finally had a reason to switch off from everyday life and focus on her creative side.

You feel the heart in everyone of Jess’ creations.

| CHRISTMAS PRIZEAPOLOOZA 2019 | Jenny Webber Nutrition

Jenny Webber Nutrition is a great little business that more people need to know about! She offers nutrition consulting as well as food education for children and adults.

Jenny is a University qualified Nutritionist and Food Technologist. She says that unfortunately the industry isn’t government regulated and therefore anyone can call themselves a Nutritionist. But, she is registered with the Nutrition Society of Australia and only those with qualifications such as hers can do so. This is assurance that Jenny know her science and will only provide you with the latest scientifically proven advice.

In 2020 Jenny is launching her very own program, Sprout Food and Nutrition Education. This amazing program is aimed at children aged from 2 to 6 years, with further programs to be released for primary school aged children in the near future. It is a hands on food and nutrition education program in Child Care Centres, Early Learning Centres and also private classes (to be announced in the new year). The program is centered around teaching children to have a positive relationship with food in a fun environment with their peers. The reason this program has been designed is that in the latest HealthStats records for NSW (2017-18) it showed that only 9% of children aged 2 to 8 years were consuming enough fruit and vegetables. Research shows that getting children involved in a fun and interactive environment to learn and experience new foods enhances fruit and vegetable intake.

If you want to start 2020 in a better way the get in contact with Jenny today:

| CHRISTMAS PRIZEAPOLOOZA 2019 | Happy Holidays with Sister Skincare

One of the best little businesses I have discovered this year is Sister Skincare.

Sister Skincare is owned and operated by Tiarna Elliott and Amy Gullifer and was launched in 2019. The idea for the business was developed over 3 years whilst Tiarna was completing her beauty apprenticeship. The whole process took almost 2 years before they were ready to launch. A lot of researching, contacting manufacturers, trialling and sampling was involved before they finally narrowed it down to the 8 products they currently have available.

The best thing about Sister Skincare is that the ingredients are natural and organic, but highly active. Tiarna says she was determined to find ingredients that would help the skin without the need for chemicals. Their products contain no parabens, SLS, nothing artificial or synthetic. They’re vegan and cruelty free.

Sister Skincare was designed for Tiarna’s sister, Jess, who has struggled with cystic acne and extremely sensitive skin for the last 4 years. At the time, the products were made solely for her sister and Tiarna would never have imagined producing her own line of skincare but after 6 months of using the products, and seeing her sister’s skin flawless, she knew she wanted others to experience the goodness of raw active ingredients, instead of using harsh chemicals. So, that’s when Sister Skincare was born.

|CHRISTMAS PRIZEAPOLOOZA 2019 | A healthier You in 2020

There’s nothing better than starting a new year on the right foot and thanks exactly what Heather MacCabe from Bathurst Navigate Personal Training can do! You need to go and check out Heather’s Facebook Page – Heather’s Fitness Story now!

Heather offers ZUU group fitness classes and personal training.

The thing that sets her apart from the rest is that she knows how it feels to be unhappy with herself and her weight. Heather says she had stomach separation after having her children together with thyroid health issues and so she knows firsthand just how hard it is to get yourself healthy, fix issues and lose weight in a safe way. She also says she knows the emotional impact that carrying extra weight and feeling unhealthy can do to a person.

Heather’s Fitness Story celebrates all types of bodies and understands that not everyone needs to a size 8 to be healthy. Being healthy is about so much more than how much you weigh.

Heather’s classes use body weight and puts a strong focus on people first, there’s no room for egos. She creates a positive environment that brings out the best in her clients.

ZUU is high intensity, low impact and each move can be suited to each individual. Everyone does the same workout, but at their own individual level.

One of the best things about training with Heather is that she doesn’t just stand there and bark orders, she works out with you. She’s deep in trenches pushing through the workout with you.

Heather is also super family friendly and your kids can go to all the classes and either participate or play on stage at the hall or outside while mum and dad work out!

| CHRISTMAS PRIZEAPOLOOZA 2019 | Elk & Tom

One of the best things about the Christmas Prizeapolooza is the great little businesses that get on board that I wouldn’t have known about without this showcase. One of those great little businesses is Elk & Tom

Elk & Tom is owned and operated by Elizabeth Klavins who is a fibre artist. Elk & Tom offers a range of Artisan jewellery and home wares created through hand embroidery and needle felting/wet felting.

Elizabeth says Elk & Tom was created a few years ago when her son was born. She says she wanted to pursue her creative side while on leave. She says she has always been creative, so to her creating her own little business was the natural next step.

Over the years you may have seen Elk & Tom at places like the Bathurst Artisan Markets or online through her social media pages. Recently she jumped on board with the beautiful store in Bathurst “Bespoke & Co.”. Elk & Tom is also part of “The Journey person” which is a collective of artisans from the Central West, who get together a few times a year, selling their handmade items at Pop ups held at The Corner Store Gallery in Orange. Elk & Tom will very soon have their own online store which is exciting for 2020!

The thing that sets Elk & Tom apart from other artists is that a lot of her work is inspired by beautiful Australian Flora and Fauna. It’s unique and quite popular with people.

Elk & Tom is a fantastic idea for gifts for those who are looking to send a little bit of our flora/fauna overseas to loved ones.

| CHRISTMAS PRIZEAPOLOOZA 2019 | Firefly your way into Christmas

This is one of my absolute favourite businesses in this year’s giveaway, in fact, I am smelling one of her incredible candles as I type this!

Firefly Earth is owned and operated by the gorgeous Trudey Bailey and offers pure soy triple scented candles.

Firefly was born 10 years ago, when Trudey’s baby was 11 months old and after a trip to Canada to visit family, Trudey noticed just how many homes she visited had candles burning. The candle culture was massive in the northern hemisphere, and she says she was all in after that trip.

Trudey says the problem she faced back in Australia was that if she wanted a triple scented candle that packed a fragrance punch, she could only find them in paraffin. Australia had various ranges of soy candles but the fragrance seemed to be a little light on. Trudey says she didn’t feel comfortable burning paraffin around her baby so decided to create her own!

The thing that sets Firefly Earth apart is the brilliant business strategy. She has streamlined all her products to make it so much easier for consumers. Some companies may offer up to 30 different fragrance’s which is great for consumers who love bulk choice. Trudey says that after observing her sale trends over the years she made the decision to take more of a minimalistic approach and not overwhelm the bejesus out of her customers. Trudey says she quickly realised that it didn’t matter what she offered up, her customers always returned to the top 3 sellers. Angels Milk, Bondi & French Pear.

Having said that, this year she is offering a super special Christmas edition candle! It’s called Christmas Caramel, its the Angel’s Milk Blend with swirls of hot salted caramel notes. You won’t regret purchasing that one!

It you want to smell some joy this Christmas get in contact with Firefly Earth today:

| CHRISTMAS PRIZEAPOLOOZA | Knot up some Succulents

Karen Brouff is a busy lady and has not one but two excellent businesses in this year’s prizeapolooza That Succulent Place and Knots with Style.

That Succulent Place provides beautiful quality Succulents and Cacti. Karen grows her own succulents and cacti, and propagate regularly from them. She also sources succulents and cacti from other home based growers as well as her parent’s extensive collection from Warren, Central West NSW.

Quality & rarer succulents and cacti are hard to come by in our local area, so That Succulent Place loves to fill that succulent need.

That Succulent Place creates beautiful Terrariums. She recycles and uses old casserole bowls, Jars, anything that will suitably host a succulent! Karen’s father, Doug creates amazing wooden Log Pots, Sourced from a Property in Warren, NSW, that he has worked on for the past 58 years. His amazing, unique creations, along with Karen’s succulents and cacti, make the most gorgeous and one off gifts and home décor.

The succulents, cacti and log pots have become very popular and people even come from Sydney, Canberra and all around to purchase something unique and special.

That Succulent Place will even create custom orders, in both Terrariums and timber pots.

That Succulent Place is always open for business; a quick message to organise a day and time to come out to Eglinton is never a problem. She also has regular open weekends, which you can find details about on her facebook page.

Knots with Style began from a hobby and she now holds regular workshops, both locally and out in Central West NSW at Warren, Narromine and Dubbo. Karen says she loves to teach macramé.

Karen takes great pride in both her businesses supplying quality handmade products. She says she loves seeing customer’s reactions when they buy a product from her, and the enjoyment people get from making their own macramé creations when they attend a workshop.

One of the best things about That Succulent Place and Knots with Style is how much Karen supports other local businesses. She chooses to source succulents from other home based growers, and macramé supplies from independently owned craft and fibre businesses. She also supports the “buy from the bush” and “One Day Closer to Rain, (Drought), Rural Cottage Crafts initiative, and her parents create succulent arrangements with materials sourced from the community of Warren NSW. All of the wood arrangements have a story of where the materials were sourced from, highlighting Warren.

2020 is lining up to be exciting year with regular workshops in 2020 and the release of various new collections including a nursery/children’s collection.
